Ok Guy's
What about the minority?
Those of us that have a very sharp blade, adhere to full preparation procedure, use only the best products subjective of course but by general opinion. Those that have a few normal shaves without incident and then not a nick but an almighty gash? The circle repeats until I'm very conscious of the scared features I'm gaining weekly. I believe in sticking with it and learning as you go but at what stage do I consider looking like I have been attacked by Sweeny Todd on a bad day?
I've found, that despite good quality blades or poor quality blades, the one factor that has always resulted in cuts, from minor to major has been operator error. One split second of loss of concentration results in a nick, cut or gash. Shaving is the time I use to concentrate on only one thing, the technique of shaving. We spend the day dividing our concentration between several things at once and generally don't give any one of them the undivided attention it might need. Multi-tasking is acceptable during the work day but that ten to twenty minutes I spend shaving in the morning is as close to a religious experience without praying that I get.
Oh
I totally agree it's user error Razorfeld but today was my time, perfect relaxation mode, no stress, no distraction and mid afternoon perfectly relaxed decide it's shave time. Up the stairs we go, full preparation, shaving going well, love the feel, then POW 3 inch gouge across my jaw line, don't think I was distracted like when the dog barged into the bathroom, knocking the door into my arm and taking a real good 5mm chunk out of my chin, but I agree it must have been user error, because no dogs, no family in the home, just little ole me. Maybe I'm just clumsy [emoji106]

Every so often I nick my face but my worst cuts have been on my hands. Like putting my thumb down on the blade instead of the thumb notch. Or stretching my face and cutting my finger. Or just trying to brush on more lather while holding the razor in my other hand. Just can't do 2 things at one time.

Heck, apritch, there is always the exception to the rule. To mangle a famous quote, "To err is human and we sure am human."
from your join date your very new to this so its a real good bet your technique isn't good. getting big cuts is just you trying to force the shave. you need to step back and just do your cheeks for a while till you get handy with a blade in your hand. and stretch and no pressure, if your having to force the blade then its not sharp, and your stropping probably is bad too, which it usually is for new guys.
best piece of advise I can give you is, put your location in your profile instead of being in the witness protection program and maybe see someone close to you for help. theres no need in hacking up your face. Tc
