I was at the local WalMart yesterday and was poking around for mineral oil. I found some house brand Baby Oil with eucalyptus and aloe for $2.47USD for 20oz.
Would this be satisfactory for maintaining rust-free straight blades?

Mineral oil is sold with the laxatives
The way I see it any oil not containing harsh chemicals like 3 in 1 for instance and not having components that can go rancid is fine for razor protection short and medium term. Long term storage is another issue.
You can use any type of petroleum based oil for carbon steel, unless it has additives. I use Gun oil, not the corrosive cleaning + lube but the plain gun lubricant.
I use a mix of mineral oil and rubbing alcohol to dip my straights in after use. The alcohol will dry any residual moisture leaving a very light film of oil behind to inhibit corrosion.
I use lanolin. It sticks to razors very well, it is naturally anti-bacterial, and it is a good rust protectant. In fact in medieval Europe they would coat armor and such in lanolin, which is why many of those artifacts are still well-preserved in museums today. Also works as a strop conditioner and on dry skin.
