ATG stroke pulls in one spot no matter what razor I use....

So my SR Shaves are getting better and better every day, but I do have one spot that is causing me some issues.

After doing my WTG/XTG strokes, I go to do the ATG Stroke and mostly it's fine, but when I try to go upwards on my Chin towards the bottom of my goatee (Diagnoally upwards almost across the jawline), it feels like it REALLY pulls a lot and requires some effort to get through. I have ensured that I reduce that area to mere stubble before hitting it ATG, do short strokes, tried scything (almost sliced myself) different angles, makes no difference, it still feels like it's pulling but only in that one spot (the rest of the shave is smooth as can be) happens in that one spot no matter what razor I use... If I don't do it, it's noticeable and really looks bad..

I'm sort of used to it now, but I was hoping there is something I'm overlooking

Try lifting your chin up to the sky and then hit that area. When you lift the chin up like that, it really stretches that area and helps with the part of the beard under the chin that wants to catch or stop the razor.

Hot towel prep or hair conditioner might help soften it up a bit. I've got the same issues, I spend extra time and use a steeper angle during the WTG pass in that area which helps a lot

I've had similar problems in that area, and I found I did better as I made wetter, slicker lather. I also lifted my chin up, and after experimentation realized that I was actually using more pressure in that area to make up for the more troublesome hairs. When I made an effort to use a feather-light touch (combined with a slight scything stroke), it was actually easier to shave the area.

Will try that too, maybe some Uber's for a while to really get it slick :)

Do your whiskers lay very flat in that area? I've found that shaving flat whiskers ATG can be a real bugger. I'm not sure what else I can add other than make sure your razor is as sharp as can be, hold the blade at an angle and do very short strokes. I mean like 1/8" per stroke, almost blade buffing. You can try some buffing, just be careful.

BTW - no need to uberlather just for one area. You'll get the best, slickest lather if you squeeze your brush out near the end of your shave, say for your final pass or touch ups. It's a little trick I learned from mantic59, and it works wonders. Give it a try.

I also have the same problem on my neck just under the chin. Ryan82 has a good point. The hairs on my problem area lay almost flat, and I think virtually all razors can have trouble with that. I lay my razor almost flat on my face with light pressure. Also, it seems that my razors that are not full hollow ground, like half hollow seem to plow through a little easier.
