I bet that tickled
How did you achieve a cross pattern?
Regardless of how the x pattern happened, it will make for a cooler scar!
Typically if I cut myself too bad I don't continue with more passes, and if i do I avoid the cut area because i tend to hang up on it again.
The plus side is that with such a sharp blade you get a perfect incision and scarring isnt usually too bad if you keep it clean and maybe dab on a little neosporin!
The little cross was actually the flap of skin hanging there Haha..didn't notice it until after the cut. Yes this Dovo is sharper than I realized. I was definitely done after that pass.

+1 on the Neosporin. A nice dab on it and a dab on a bandaid at night to keep it moist and it'll really help!! My scars can testify!!!

As with any tread involving a cut we have recommendations for neosporin which is certainly a fine product. For what it is worth I just want to share the advice on this we got from a plastic surgeon. About a year ago my wife took a fall that resulted in a bad jagged cut right under her lower eyelid. We went to the ER where it was stitched up in a less than perfect way. She was so concerned about possible scarring that she found a plastic surgeon that would meet with her on a Sunday - the day after it happened. He told us that for a cut on the face where scarring is a concern absolutely do not use any antibiotic ointment. The point of such products is to prevent infection. The face has such a rich blood supply that the risk of infection for a facial cut is close to zero. Bear in mind my wife's cut came from falling and hitting her face on a concrete sidewalk which is probably a good bit dirtier than the razors we are shaving with. He went on to say that the various antibiotics and other ingredients in such products can in some cases actually make scarring worse. SO THERE IS NO REASON TO USE THEM ON A FACIAL CUT AND IN FACT THEY ARE CONTRAINDICATED. His advice to minimize scarring was just keep any facial cut moist with Vaseline while it heals. My wife's cut was pretty bad and the assumption was that a year or so down the road some followup surgery to reduce the scarring would be required. She put a dab of Vaseline on it three times a day while it healed. Today you can't see where it was, there is no scar at all.
A kiss from the straight razor gods just to remind you their watching!
As a surgeon I'd agree on staying away from Neosporin. It drives antibiotic resistance and it's not needed in the vascularized areas of the face.
Clean it with ordinary soap and water. Add steristrip if it's a large cut (unless it's big enough to suture). Keep it moist by using a salve bandage and don't touch it unless needed. The best band aids works just like a scab with a protective shell and keeps the wound wet to facilitate healing.
Swap bandages when dirty and wet it loose to make it as atraumatic as possible. Stay away from direct sunlight and/or use a good sunblock.
I remember my first big cut was after two friends and I knocked over our first bank years ago. The cut was enough to buy plenty of shaving supplies and as a matter of.....oh, you mean the other kind of cut.
yea near the corner of my mouth on the left side. It bled like a pig. I just let it clot with some pressure and didn't use anything on it. I have a very slight scar there now. Kind of sexy I think.
Scars...tattoos with better stories.
Ah, let it scar. The women love a little scar here and there on their man.
It's provided some good story time with my clients lol.

I havent nicked myself in a long time now!! but now that i said that watch out!!!I work in the printing industries, and we do get
deep paper cuts usually on fingers, just imagine a continuous piece of paper going 70 miles per hour!! i had some deep paper cuts on fingers, its always a clean cut like a razor blade, we close the cut and put a dab of superglue let dry and your good to go!!
I don't know what was said then but topic antibiotics generally speaking contain solvents that infers with healing similar to staying away from alcohol for wound cleaning.
The antibiotics might kill off the local bacterial flora enabling nastier bugs to infect the wound. Besides to actually work you have to reapply it several times a day to keep bacteria away which violates the don't touch principle.
Short version: don't put unnecessary crap in wounds...
Here is an old one of mine. I was not happy in this pic. Don't sweat it, it happens.Attachment 91210
I've used vitamin E cream rubbed on a scar daily with good success. Seemed to heal the scar a lot faster.
I've found (after blowing it on my first bad cut) that if you have a flap, "super glue"!!! Sounds weird but it's actually sanitary. We used to do it rock climbing when we cut our finger tips, and I have a plastic surgeon friend that says they use almost the same thing all the time for E.R. cuts. if you cut a wedge out, yer stuck with it..
My favorite comment on cuts: "S**t! I think I just cut myself. Well... Maybe not... Nope, I did".
Superglue works like a charm. It was developed for emergency surgery after all. It is quite hard to apply if you are inexperienced. The goal is a minimal amount of glue just on the edge and correct amount of pressure while bonding to avoid creases. However it does scar more.
Fingers are a good area to apply glue. Even better in the scalp.
Remember: once a razor has tasted blood, it will thrist for more.
