Thought I'd share this remedy for nicks & cuts

Ok, so by now I think I finally got this straight razor thing down. However, my face bears the marks of many failed shaves. I'm talking about scars. Yes, I cut myself bad enough to leave a scar. Several actually.

But then I remembered hearing a long time ago that Vitamin E oil can help reduce the appearance of scars. And it totally works!! After a few weeks of application, most of them are totally gone. Seriously, if you ever cut yourself bad, start applying E oil right away (after it closes up of course), and you will heal like magic with no scars left behind. You can buy vitamin E oil at just about any drugstore for a couple bucks.

I have a problem patch that can get really bad razor burn if i don't pay attention. When i get really bad razor burn there I use alum->witch hazel->ASB, then i wait an hour or so and put on vitamin E twice a day for a few days clears up much faster.

Neat...I had no idea. Fortunately, I've arrived virtually scar-free. However, I have one scar that is just under my jaw line. I can't hardly see it anymore, but it must've been a lu-lu for its time. I'm now in my mid 40s and I believe I started shaving around fourteen or thereabout. I really can't even recall doing it. But, like I said, I probably could've used your advice about thirty years ago. Better late than never.

Thank you for your advice! I still have no straight razor scars (and hope I will not). But I never knew about Vitamin E healing effect!

Just to offer an opposing view, there was a study done by the University of Miami in '99 that found the opposite:

What I've used has been Primrose oil. It's been said to help prevent scars. It doesn't seem to hurt!(:-).

Thanks for sharing. Before I moved to str8, I wondered if I should make another turn with shavette. It was my last shavette shave and my first scar...I will definitely try this.

You never know about those home remedies. Cousin festus saw this ad on T.V about how noise cancelling headphones cancels out noise and decided maybe the same thing works with razor burns and cuts so he applied some battery acid to his face and he says it worked like a charm.:)
