Castle Forbes lime, woah!

I've had the "Castle Forbes lime shaving cream" in my rotation for a few months now and I've always gotten good results.

Today I did something different, I've recently started using alcohol based ASS's and I love the burn, so instead of using an ASB, I used D.R Harris Arlington ASS, here's what went down.

The forbes lathered up quickly and easily as always and I had what was possibly my smoothest shave all week but after a three pass shave and a quick cold water rinse, I was mildly surprised and a bit dissapointed that the aftershave didn't burn:shrug:, it felt like rubbing water in my face.

I'd say that this is truly a testiment to how great this cream is at protecting your skin while you get one of the smoothest shaves possible.


EDIT. for clarification, ASS=aftershave splash. ASB=aftershave balm.

As great as CF Lime is, technique will play a big part in preventing alcohol burn: very light touch, proper stroke and not shaving repeatedly over the same areas. If your AS burns like the dickens it typically means something is wrong, like too much pressure or using a dull razor. It sounds like everything came together for you to have a great shave, not just good lather. :tu

I guess I can take some of the credit but I always get at least some burn when I use any other soap or cream.

I think that stuff heals as you shave lol - I always get a tingle when using it. Actually, so much so that I dilute it with a bit of Nancy Boy's Replenishing. I love the mix.

I agree. I just had my first shave with Castle Forbes Cream and I am wondering why anyone would use anything else (other than maybe price or adventure). Smooth shave, no burn, no nothing. It's as amazing as everyone says. Also, I created stunning quantity and quality of lather in under a minute and with very little product. I am thinking that with this little amount of product, even the price may not be much of an issue.

Sweet, guys. I'm anxious to try CF out. My order of CF Lime arrived last week, so that one is next up on the shave bill. Glad to hear it receive such glowing testimony. :D

Oh man you haven't used it yet lol!?! I can't wait to hear what you think. It's a main-stay for me in the summer - I think you'll like it.

Shaving cream acquisition disorder got me bad, so I was trying out the other candidate, XPEC. Great stuff! Lynn said both creams were "suds machines!"

Besides, it's hardly summer yet up this far north. LOL :D

I am thinking first day of summer shave with CF Lime and Pusser's Lime AS gotta pick a razor for that one :) Wed June 20th Lime day SOTD up here Mark ????

All joking aside... I would sooooo rather that to the heat here in KS!! Moving from Ontario to Kansas five years ago was an exercise in acclimatization!! Not sure I even have yet : ).

I literally have to have creams for both summer and winter here. Most stuff that works well in the winter I find bogs down at the 90 degree mark.

I agree David, there are a few that I use seasonally, I am really looking forward to the real heat of Summer up here I want to try a Cold Water shave using the Iced Mojito soap from TSD shop, and some type of mentholated AS..

I tend to go to the lighter scents in the Summer... But we do have 4 seasons up here honestly..... Hunting, Skiing, Mud, and Tourist :rofl2:

Bahahaha.

Cold water shaves are actually really nice with both mentholated creams and AS. I am going to buy an unscented mentholated cream to mix with my other stuff as all these creams for both winter and summer is a bit much! There is nothing I enjoy more when it's really hot here than using those and then running out side and having a nice cigar! It just feels awesome!

I think I am going to skip a step and buy one of these and actually shave outside!! While smoking... lol!

i have no sympathy for those complaining of how hot their state is....it was 97 degrees this morning on the way into work and will be 106 when I go home. The only cold water we have here comes from the fridge. that being said I had a lime shave yesterday and it was great ;)

I'm all in for the Lime theme SOTD for the first day o' summer! :D

I wonder if I'm not too late to get a decent AS to go with lime shave cream? :)

Floridian chiming in; 'tis the season of lime and menthol, and my CF is getting the nod tonight. 92 degrees right now with about 50% humidity, and I moved north to get here!
