    Why you keep your hands clear of the starter and flywheel, on a outboard motor.

    A first for me, after 20 some years of working on them.

    It happened so fast.! Its been over an hour, and its just now starting to hurt some. Doc says no stitches, no meat to sew together. Keep it clean and bandaged.

    A splint that is flexible aluminum with a foam inside might be a good idea to protect it from you. I would wash it and air it four times a day. Clean bandages and away you go. It is likely going to leak for about five days so frequent bandage changes and super clean will help it heal fast.
