How does one shave scars? Not clean cuts from razors but from hockey sticks and the resulting stitch marks
I have some scars on my face from various injuries. No hockey scars, though. I make sure my skin is nice and taut, and proceed with no pressure, only the weight of the blade and a gentle angle. I'll use the alum block "trick" to make sure I have enough traction on the second and third passes. Works well for me. Basically, I use a 25-30 degree angle and ensure that my skin is taut. No pressure, very gentle passes. Hopefully this helps!
You should really pm mapleleafalumnus - if anyone here has experience with that, it should be him. :)
Well, it comes after you've been shaving and perfecting your technique. Angle, pressure, stroke length, etc. your gonna bleed some, we all do, but it'll happen. Best advice I can give is low to very low blade angle and very light pressure especially around the scars. You'll find that you can shave around, and over them, but it takes some practice. Some you may have to avoid and touch them up with a safety razor. mapleleafalumnus eats, drinks, sleeps and bleeds hockey. I'm sure he's got some experience with this and can give some insight. Good Luck and Welcome to SRP.

Howard
Edit: See, I told you!! Cangooner typed faster than me!!
VERY carefully. No matter what, don't use a skate blade.
Actually, face prep is of utmost importance. My normal routine is:
-Prepare razor via stropping
-Hot shower w/Barbasol shave creme (it is a real beard buster!)
-Hot towel w/tap water
-Toss some more Barbasol on my face whilst whipping up lather (soaps and cremes vary)
-Lather thoroughly
-Shave
Whilst shaving around/over scars, I use a VERY SHALLOW ANGLE combined with variations of skin stretching (on some areas I keep my skin as tight as a virgin on Prom Night, and on one in particular I have to "puff out" my cheek) -- the spine is just about touching my skin. I still get weepers every now and again, but nothing that's particularly visible.
And if all else fails, I follow the IBSPC's maxim (proposed by Brother Cangooner!) of incidere in dimidium. :roflmao
Hope this helps.
Edit: I'm fortunate to live on Lake Michigan -- a humid envirounment which greatly helps my overall skin health. Those members who live in dry climates by comparison (e.g. ParkerSkouson lives in Vegas) may have other regimens which work well for them given their living conditions. YMMV.
Does your face look like this?
