It's a double edge sword at times. However, one thing I WILL NOT lend is money. Money and repayment near always begets hostility. As far as a blade goes, I did lend a buddy of mine at work a Dovo round point to try and see if he would get into SR shaving. He did got his own and accidentally dinged it on the sink (not a week after I made the same FUBAR), so in empathy I lent him one of my two ebony spikes. Luckily he is an awesome and very responsible guy, and actually bought the razor from me he liked it so much. I even offered to re-hone his dinged edge for buying the blade off me. When it comes to lending anything I kinda go by this rule...it's crazy sounding, but it has worked to my advantage. When someone asks to borrow something, I go and look at their car, truck, or motorcycle or whatever they drive. If it's a nasty heap of a mess, I decline, b/c I can tell that something that costs that much money isn't given a thought of being taken care of; how much effort are they willing to put into something say like a razor that isn't even theirs. If their vehicles are clean, no trash in the floorboards, and haven't got "wash me" smudges caked in mud and dirt, I can reason that this person takes care of their investments, and understands the value of maintaining them; thus, they are usually more inclined to treat another's property with the same or more care and respect. My $.02, even if it's weird...makes sense to me.
