Hey everybody. Just wanted to say that I loooove SR shaving. But what does WTG, ATG and XTG mean? And is it recommended to shave against the grain? I heard it's a big no no...
Wtg with the grain atg against the grain xtg across the grain,u can shave against the grain . Its really all personal preference.. some guys feel good after two passes.. i personally shave wtg and xtg on my face and wtg and atg on my neck..
It's perhaps a small "no-no" until you possess the requisite skills. If you try it before you have the skill set for it, you'll realize why.
I find my best shave is wtg then relather and shave xtg. The shave xtg would kill me on first pass, but is quite enjoyable after a pass wtg.

Shaving ATG is personal preference. Even when the requisite skills are acquired, some guys can handle it and some can't, it really depends on your skin.
That being said, with a sharp razor and an experienced hand WTG and XTG are all you'll really need for a day-to-day shave.
I shave WTG and ATG on my entire face. I only do XTG on the mustache area if it is needed. It takes some time to learn to go against the grain and you need to be careful learning :) take your time and you will get some amazing shaves
Here ya go. Heaps of SR acronyms, under the help tab.
