George Plum, Dolphin Street, Bristol Razor
Hello again everyone.
I know I keep telling people I only buy Wigan related items, but I've just acquired an interesting razor signed George Plum, Dolphin Street Bristol
I only just bent my own rules last time when I bought the Duckworths of Bolton razor, but I do have friends in Bristol and it's a city I know and love.....let's be honest, I'm showing early signs of RAD aren't I ??
Anyway, on to the razor:-

Pretty thing, isn't it ?
The box, which I believe to be original, is especially nice - if a bit dented
Shame about the nicks on the blade, but since I'm scared of picking these things up, let alone shaving with them, it doesn't really matter to me.
Dolphin Street no longer exists - it was completely destroyed by bombing during WWII.
I don't know if Mr Plum's business was still there at that time - I doubt this razor is any more recent than late Victorian.
It does however seem that George Plum was both a cutlery manufacturer and retailer.
There is a posting on another forum by a descendent of George Plum asking for information, so I'll drop him a line shortly.
Any comments anyone ?
Bye for now,
Andy
