I couldn't find a 'New Acquisitions' thread, do we have one?
I bought this Joseph Elliot from here and received it today; you may have seen it in the classifieds. I haven't used it yet (that's tomorrow's shave, to be posted in the SOTD thread) but it LOOKS really cool. The buffalo horn scales are REALLY nice; very rustic and colourful; I also love the adjustable pins.
Normally I shave with a lighter razor (framebacks, full hollows, although I have one wedge; a Bengall) and this feels nice and heavy, similar to the Bengall.
I can't wait to shave with it tomorrow, I may not even strop it first; or maybe just 10/10, as I'm interested in comparing my shave ready edges with this one.
The pictures probably don't so the scales justice; they really are very lovely. For an Australian (who has never seen a buffalo) buffalo horn scales are very interesting.
If anyone could tell me the razor's age it'd be very appreciated; I'm told it's about 100 years old, although i'm thinking more towards the end of the 19c rather than the start of the 20th.
