The makers of this razor is Gebruder Dittmar from Heilbronn Germany. The company was more famous for their gardening tools but however they definately made razors.

Looks like you've got yourself a very early Dittmar razor!
Of the other three I've seen, they're all stamped 'Gebr. Dittmar' (for Gebruder -- 'Brothers').
Camile Page mentions George Dittmar completing his apprenticeship in 1799 in Heilbronn, Germany. He made cutlery and other instruments.
At some point he turned the business over to his sons, Adalbert and Theodor Carl. The brothers showed their extensive wares at several big exhibitions and in 1845, talked about their special process for making razors. A special process that has more in common with alchemy than anything else, but they were using Sheffield steel as their starting point.
Neil Miller dug up the bulk of what I've described here, maybe he and Martin can find more. In any event, here's the Dittmar razor I got, which is almost certainly made later than yours. That date on the scales is plausible.

Heilbronn is quite far from Solingen, and had a completely different culture of metalworking.

Didnt found a better Thread to shown my Gebr. Dittmar, maybe a bit younger than the two shown and rescales some Years ago with black plastic scales, its 13/16" inch wide. Shaved with it today and it was wonderful, very fine steel and a nice heavy weight blade.

Unique. Seems to have 3 piece construction. Unlike the OP's, which is Faux frameback. Some of Frameback, some of Faux. Nice! :cool:
