I scored a Satinedge at a local Antique shop yesterday. I guess @10pups hasn't bought them all after-all, :rofl2: It looks to be in pretty good shape and will clean up well. It will need new scales though, their is a place on one side that appears to have been melted a bit... I'm not brave enough to try this myself yet so we'll have to see what it looks like after I can get it into Glen's capable hands...

Nice catch. The main point for me is when there is no hone wear. I always dig deeper in my pocket when there is no hone wear.
I saw plenty of over honed and broken blades yesterday while I was out. This one just happened to look like it was in pretty nice shape. Going out again tomorrow to look for a gift for a friend so we'll see what else I can score. ;-)
Oh, and 10pups if you read this, I was picking of course but, your's are absolutely gorgeous. My RAD is Duck biased now after seeing your stuff.
Definitely a nice find, and seeing those nicely restored ducks has me on the lookout now as well. I'm excited to see how it looks after a bit of TLC.

Now back to your regularly scheduled thread... The dealer in that specific shop booth obviously didn't know what they had because it was a really good deal. I can't wait to see it polished with new scales. The other reason I'm getting attached to these is the "bling" and detail that some of them have... I did however, pay way too much for a Goldedge on e-bay a couple of weeks ago :o. I would be upset over it but, it's in really good shape and even has all the gold left on the tang.
I am still a bit bummed though that the pretty blond wasn't working in the shop yesterday or I may have gotten a nice razor AND been turned down for a date... or, maybe not :nj

Just be happy with the razor. It won't suck your wallet dry :<0) That one looks like my first Duck. Which is still in the same condition. You did good, you got lucky, and if you use it right you just may get a date with the wallet sucker. :cool:
Congrats. Though I would not ditch the scales. Not sure if you're talking about replacing them with some SatinEdge scales in better shape, or if you're talking about replacing them with other SatinEdge ones. Those lucite scales to me are all time. Some of my favorites. Mine cleaned up very nicely. I'm sure you won't get rid of the discoloration, but I bet you get them cleaned up with a little work.

@10Pups makes me want to go to the LA meet up to see some of this collection.
I would be replacing them to look exactly the same with the inlays and all. There is a cracked and melted indentation that runs about half the length of the back scale and is discolored really bad too. I like period or "factory" restorations more than custom most of the time anyways and I don't want to lose the "bling" anyhow as that's what makes the ducks look so awesome.
I'm not so worried about getting this one usable right away as I have a W&B and a German Made WM Elliot that Glen is working on for me to use in the mean time. I'm just not one to do something half way and I jumped into this one with both feet... :-)
