Thanked: 0George Wostenholm & Son 11/16" Celebrated I-XL
Well, regardless of its worth I'm pretty sure I over paid for this razor (I went over budget...). This will be my second straight razor, and second George Wolstenholm, I am sensing
the beginning of an expensive trend...

Thanked: 4821Oh man, all I can say is welcome to the club, there have been so many expensive trends that I have been through. It looks like you may be able to save the scales on that one too.
It's not what you know, it's who you take fishing!

Have you been able to test them out yet? It'll be hard to tell how they compare to other makes til you get to test out a few others but you're sure to enjoy the shaves from these. I think I've owned more wostenholm than any other brand except torrey and not one has dissapointed me so far. When you get a couple other brands you'll see, hear and feel the differences right away. You'll notice Honing, stropping german razors sounds and feels way different than a sheffield blade. When shaving the hollow ground blades will sing to you, the wedges will silently sweep through the stubble. You'll notice some razors take longer to get a good bevel set and take a bit more laps on the strop to keep em in shape but hold the edge in a shave like nobodies business. At the end of the day you'll be comparing apples to oranges but I'm sure you'll never stop being drawn to the wosty!

Looks ok to me a good soak in neatsfoot oil for a week will do the horn scales a world a good before any other work is started to confirm the base you have
I have glue cracks & filled bug bits in horn with CA glue before sanding etc with no problems
So it should clean up well to a nice shaver
Price like beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so it is only over priced if you think it is, but you would not have paid for it if you did would you?
What some think is a rip off others see as a steal, as long as you enjoy it is all that matersSaved,
to shave another day.

Thanked: 0Well, I've "tested" the one out for a total of three shaves, today being the first complete pass with a straight. The razor originally belonged to my Grandfather, I'm not sure what if any his reasoning was for getting a Wostenholm. I'm sure I'll try other razors down the road, but right now I seem to be drawn to English blades, specifically Wostenholm.
