Well, Ron knows his alcohol!
I also have to say Lagavulin 16 is the best regular production whisky I have ever tasted.
I wish I had a razor or hone in the mail, but funds have limited my shopping to a replacement 40x LED loupe. Seems Glen was right (yet again) that it's cheaper to buy another one when the batteries eventually die (and the old one was only 30x so an upgrade to boot).
I wouldn't mind if the whisky was in a Vodka bottle if someone sent me some Lagavulin. Like Dad always said...never sniff a gift fish!
Well all the colored whiskey comes out of the still clear. The oak aging does add flavor and color, but I had some clear rye shine recently that'd blow your socks off, and was smooth and delicious. The abc stores down here in VA sell lagluven 16 for like $106, does that sound right?

I'm a fan after a small airplane bottle sized sample. Disguised as grey goose no less. The drink that tastes like nothing, very well.
The lag however,,,Whole lot of flavour going on in that glass. Even went neat out of respect for the stuff, contrary to my perpensity fir cold drinks.
Thanks again Andrew. May pony up for a big bottle next..
:beer1:
Neat. The only way....Or over the rocks.:hmmm:
I had a very nice item arrive in the USPS mail today! :tu
For those that know me and know me well know that I like to make sausages. Some smoked, some fresh and always to share with family and friends.
For about 35 years I've used the plastic stuffing tubes or 'Stuffing Horns' as some call them and I finally decided to splurge and buy some Stainless Steel tubes/horns. The only problem was that while I could find most of them I couldn't find a 1" OD that would fit my stuffer.
A friend and fellow member here at SRP offered to make one for me. It landed today and I'm just tickled Shiteless! It's solidly made, and it's very well finished. I've got it in my auto dishwasher ready to be cleaned up and sanitized so it's ready to join the rest of it's buddies to help make some sausage! :y

Now that is just awesome!!!
A couple of years ago there was once again a Push to Remove the Washington State Liquor Control Board. The State had a Monopoly on the sale of Hard Liquor.
Well while it sounded like a 'Good Idea' and the General Consenses was that with getting the state out of the liquor business prices would plummet.
Unlike so many, I read the fine print of the item to be voted on and I voted NO!
Alas the item passed anyway.
Ok--Just like buying toilet paper, soap or any other non edible item in Washington State, the price tag on the shelf below the item doesn't show what that item will cost with tax.
So the bottle of booze says that it's $10. The customer picks it up and takes it to the checkout for purchase the clerk rings up the booze and the total is now $13.03 as there is an 8% sales tax AND a 22.5% hard liquor tax.
You see when the State Stores displayed a liquor the tag showed the Total Cost.
People are still bitching and I've Never talked to Anyone who will fess up to actually voting for taking liquor out of the hands of the state.
Lagavulin 16 is $122 here. The 8 year is $99 and the 12 year is $159.
I can't get the 12 locally, but could have it shipped to my front door for $175........ I'll stick to the 16. It's worth every penny IMO.
Yes, once again, the taxpayers got swindled by a slick marketing campaign. Nobody seems to read the fine print, eh Cuda? :deal:
The Corporate Grocery Store Hierarchy were the ones that were really pushing for the State to be eliminated from having the control over Hard Liquor.
They wanted to be the ones selling the product and receiving the funds! Plain and Simple!
They knew that there was a 'hidden' tax that most voters wouldn't pick up on.
So there (as far as I'm concerned is the 'Swindle') my friend.
That's fine. I was just trying to get an answer to what you started.
A Great idea to store razors, and works better than a cigar box
For and from oldBlades, Thanks Tim

Today maybe the oldest german Razor in my Collection arrived, a Gebrüder Dittmar of Heilbronn (Bros. Dittmar) in 11/16" with brass covered Tang an Scales made off an unknown wood (it glitters golden). Got it together with some memorablia of the Battle of Verdun, it was rusted (especially at the spine) and i cleaned it a bit and didnt expected, its still sharp, the edge shows no damages and it makes a perfect HHT after some strokes over CrOX and Juchten :dropjaw:
Cant wait to shave with it :D
