1. Hohenzollern Abziehsteine Hone.
2. Joseph Rogers (unmarked) 1/2 hollow (I think) SR.
3. "The Professional Strop" from Classic Edge.
4. Shavex Alum Block from Classic Edge.
5. Sharpening Stone Holder from Classic Edge.
6. a few razors I sent to Classic edge to be honed.
And no telling my wife either and the extra goodies ( 1-5) .... I don't need "the talk" again......lol
Was watching that, then realized if I won it I may actually have to use it;)...read a few threads in here about them, they are quite highly regarded, one post said they were on par if not better than the B/G Eschers...congrats!Quote:

Tonight is a rather sad night as I had to put down an old friend who had helped me on so many occasions I really can't count them all.
After all of these years of him coming to the rescue and then 'slowly dying' but then after some recharging he'd be back in the thick of things but finally he couldn't come back, his time had come so I gently placed him back in the case along with his 'heart' (Charger) that finally wouldn't charge and disposed of him.
I thank him for 20+ years of dutiful service.

He will be replaced by another tool who I hope will not only do my old friend proud but outlive him.

Thanks! I read that about those also. I have a smaller thuri.... A celebrated water hone....5 x 1. It works great on smiling blades, but I wanted something a tad wider. I am actually surprised I won it tbh. I see some of the other thuris going for $300 or more and some even at $500+.Quote:

Always hard to replace a great tool...... Sometimes the older tools are better in some ways than the newer ones. And sometimes it is the other way around. Look at the bright side.... Ya got a new toy to learn and play with.....:)Quote:

Actually I still have 1 of those. And yes you can still get the batteries for them. The new ones are ten times better. Lithium batteries are why. When they run out of juice they just shut off. This is to save themselves. When you run them down and keep going the batteries get hot. Heat kills any battery. Keep them out of the sun and in a cool place to extend the life. Mine are on the garage floor because even though it gets 120 in there the concrete is always cool. Just ask the cat :<0) That 1/2 drill will twist your wrist off if a bit catches so be careful with it.
well your friend led a good working life, many lesser models have passed long before that one. I have one of those impact drivers, it is a pleasure to use, also have a Makita NiCd and wish the Lithium powered ones were the price they are now when I bought it... quality toolsQuote:
