I hope the edge is better than the picture...We will see as it arrives?

I have an vintage Old Spice shaving mug on the way and I will likely buy a Sheffield ivory-scaled razor next week. I look to buy some stropping chromium oxide soon also as I believe it's time for a "refresh." I hope to use the Sheffield for shaving also as it's a full hollow ground unit with round point. It will come restored and honed.
Got two more razors in the mail today. Another Imperial. This one with "Army and Navy" etched on the blade, 13/16. And an Oxford, Germania Cultery works. 6/8. Both are made by Adolph Kastor. This guy did a lot of different brand names of razors. Both of these look to be identical blades and scales but with different stamps. Well, The tangs are a touch different in shape.

Those look great!
I have received all the Old Spice mugs I bought on ebay and I put those away into the medicine cabinet. At some point I want to build that display case I have in mind to show those and any razors I buy off.
It arrived and all is fine. It's even cleaner (now) than in this picture. That little dark streak near the toe has been cleaned off as well.

After honing it also shaves very well.
gcbryan,
Those look great!
I agree! :) It was as advertised. There were particles of (formerly) wet cardboard on the blade edge, there was one "pit", only edge deep, that was only revealed after I cleaned the edge off and that was near the "heal". I bread-knifed the blade, and by the time I finished honing it that was all honed out.
I even checked it with a microscope and there is no trace of that "pit". I shaved with it and I think that might have been my best shave yet. There was a piece of cardboard stuck on the "toe" of the scales that was actually a little hard to get off. I soaked it initially, scraped most of it off with my fingernail and polished the rest off with fine sandpaper.
The cardboard did leave a little mark on the scale but nothing that matters much. It looks like the razor was essentially new to me and at some point the tip of the box got a little wet.
gcbryan,
I wager that quite a few vintage razors were used very little. Bought as a gift or on a whim but the recipient wasn't that serious about the practice or too fearful to ever give it a try. I owned my Dovo for 9 or 10 years before ever giving it serious use.....I kept a layer of gun oil on my blade and ran a dehumidifer in that bathroom 24/7 though.
Got a nice 7-day set of cv heljestrand eskilstuna sweden frameback razors coming my way :o
