I dunno... that looks like signs of cell rot. Can you post a picture of the scales for us to see? Also, if you have any other straights, keep this one quarantined from them, just in case, or they'll end up looking the same way!

Yeah, I'd say.
I'd also say that's a sure case of cell rot... I'd quarantine that one from your others if you have any to keep them from looking the same. I'd also remove and replace the scales immediately. After that, you should be fine to add it in with the rest of your collection.
