I sold aluminum cans and cashed in my change jar in preparation for my move this weekend. Since the recycling center is close to my favorite antique store I stopped in on a whim hoping there might be a new vendor or a change in stock. This is what I found...

I never expected I would find one of these in good shape in the wild. If it shaves well I will keep the adjustable and give my Superspeed to a buddy for a college graduation present.
Nice find! I use one of these most days. I haven't touched my super speed in at least a year. Might want to replace that blade though. :)

The blade was in the razor when I found it. It looks like rust in the pic but in person the blade is copper colored. My best guess is that it's a coating.Quote:

Fine looking razor in good condition. That is a nice fine, congrats. Get her cleaned up, a new blade and enjoy it. They are good shavers once you find the right setting for the blade you are using.

That thing is thoroughly sweet, what a great find. Certainly one of the finest safety razors ever made, a winner every time.
Great find! I use one any day that I need to move a little faster than a straight will safely allow. A Feather blade and the dial on '6' and I get a great shave.
Great find....box and all! A DE is a must have, great way to change it up once in awhile....of course, we'll expect to see it in a SOTD and what you thought of the shave.

I was on eBay one day & came across a listing with $110, BIN or make offer, so I looked it over & made an offer well below $100 & I waited & waited & waited then he finally replied That he'd take my offer. it was low enough that he had to think about it for awhile. I, being a straight razor person just thought for those days I'm in a big hurry, this might come in handy (very rare) but it happens at times. I love shaving with a straight. I was happy to get this though just for those very rare days plus for my collection. I have seen some of these go for over $200 on eBay in mint condition & mine isn't too far from it. Not bad for a '59 plus I didn't pay such a high price just to get one in just a little better condition. More power to ya Leatherstockiings!
Great find! I used to have one of those, misplaced it during a move 40 years ago, regrettably. I think I would appreciate it more now.
