I've had this for some tie now but I have never seen another one like it. It is a frame back & the frame back part is made of bronze. Anyone seen one of these before?

They are as common as can be. I have a drawer full of them. They aren't worth a heck of a lot and if you want I could take it off your hands, for a small fee of course. :p
Beautiful blade...I've only seen one on eBay a couple of weeks ago with the brass colored spine. Never one with the thumb notch though, that's the first one of these I've seen. It looks in stunning condition, virtually mint. What size is the razor?
It's 6.5" including the tail & has a 3" edge on it.
Shure it is not brass? Have not seen a bronze one! NICE!
I've always wanted to bring up the concept of taping the spine on a frame back just to watch the arguments ensue. I have to think that the added dimension of the frame back would stir up some memorable, if not heated, debates. Glen, you out there? LOL
I meant to say brass. I know there is a difference in materials.
I've seen a couple on the Internet in the past. Not necessarily W&B .... maybe ebay, maybe SRP, I honestly cannot recall. I was always curious as to why such a soft metal would be combined with steel where honing would be involved. Interesting stuff. Maybe Neil or Martin will have some input on what the story was with the brass spines on framebacks.
I have been doing the same thing.
I have a helberg faux frameback with a brass spine, i know that the spine in mine used to be chromed, or plated with some silver coloured coating, i received it as is, but the previous owner told me about it. i tape its spine because the spine is worn, i should try and make it a new one like glen did in one of his threads.
I also thought about making a sacrificial spine for use when honing.
Very nice razor, Congtrats!!
Forgot to post this one to http://straightrazorpalace.com/begin...right-now.html

Any guesses on scale material?
+1 Hart - was looking at that one...figured I'd see it here soon.;)
Very nice, that was the first Wosty frameback I've seen....nice grab!
I've seen a Wosty frame back but not like that one! Great catch! I have one similar but not brass frame back.
With all due respect Ed, I'm pretty sure it's not a "faux" frameback if the spine is a separate piece of metal, that's just a regular frameback.
I think razors with a rattler grind is what people are usually referring to when they say faux frameback.
Now that's a cool blade. Love the unique ones like this.
Yes, i dont really know, i thought a proper frameback had the spine fixed to the tang, and a removable/seperate thiner blade. If that is the case my faux frameback is no longer faux, i think it will be pleased to be recognised for what it is rather than what it was pretending to be :)
I have tried to work it out before, but i could never really determine a decent explanation of the difference, but calling a rattler a faux frameback does make sense :)
Yes, considering how little it went for, 45cents under my max bid which was a token bid on my part while I tried to get the seller to get rid of the Global Shipping. A couple hours left in the auction an he still couldn't figure it out and asked me if I could change it on my end :gaah:
I had given up on it TBO.
Honing that without tape should be considered a criminal act.
