Not razor related ,but you guys that have ever been in the oilfield there are certain things that are like status symbols out here in the Patch. Hard hats , your old boots, and for the company man who is at the top of the ladder the custom tally book, for those that don't know, a tally book is our PC , every thing well related and important is in your book,,, Kevin made me one with my Irish back ground in a Celtic pattern , this is a magnificent example of a true craftsman, an artist, for you Kevin. I thank you , this is truly above my expectations even though I set the bar high from your other examples posted before . Now please send me a bill!!!! Lol

Ya I have one coming ,, I can't wait, ya Kevin is an old roughneck, me an him will probably talk everyone to death about our exploits if we get at the same meet, we're a different breed that's for sure , tc

That is a way cool wallet.

Wore this old hat many a year. Saved my noggin a couple of times. wore it on my current job until they decided that we WILL wear white hard hats. Hung this one on the wall at my desk. Even had a bubble level on the brim so everybody knew I was at least bubble off level.

Glad you are pleased with it. I will have your strop to you about the third week this month. Headed out on vacation and will be going compleatly dark for 7 days.

I do look forward to meeting in person as you said, we are a different breed and few understand the attitude of the patch.

Yep they made us all go to the plastic a few years back had to retire my old metal one. Yours has the look of oilfield about it I could swear I've seen some of those stickers but my eyesight ain't that great these days , but wellie I've only seen 2 pics of you ,one on a Harley and this one ,, seems your always telling someone their number one!!!! Tc

I still wear an MSA hat like that one. They tried to get me wear one of their plastic POS's. Painted mine white and stuck the required reflective tape on it. It ain't real white any more. It's got grease and dried blood on it. Pisses off the big wheels when several of us show up on a job and the contractors come to me first rather than the wheels with the shiny new hats. ;)

Never worked the patch, lost three jobs over the years when it cratered at various time like it always has. Spent most of my time trucking. I was doing super heavy haul when that pic was taken. Hauled mostly cranes and crane related junk. Stickers are from all over the Southwest. We set up a lot of power plants and rented cranes to a lot of the BIG companies. Always had a pocket full of our company stickers and you know the drill. I was pretty PO'd when that pic was taken as I was 4 hours late for launch due to the fact that the guy taking the pic hadn't done his job and got the machine I was supposed to have in KS that afternoon ready to go.

My trucking days are over. Burned out.

Can't enjoy riding like I used to. Reflexes aren't what they used to be, both wrists are shot with arthritis, and I'm wearing tri-focals to see. Just can't see myself puttering around like the old farts in the Gold Wing clubs. I'd probably get stupid and kill myself or somebody else so I gave it up.

I miss it, but that's the way it is. It was FUN while it lasted.

I went down to the shop and what did I see? Old roughneck memories staring back at me.

Amazing how that happens, ain't it? Must be because they're shiny.:shrug::rofl2:

I wear that MSA hat rather than the state issue hat because I can hurt somebody with that hat. They will break a window or somebody's head, unlike the plastic crap.

On occasions it can get real stupid, real fast out on the highways where I work now. Some folks take it way too personal when you have fix their road and it slows down their day. I think the word is slowly spreading that the highway dept is nearly as well armed as the PD's since they decided to let CHL holders carry at work now. Haven't been noticing near as much blowback around lane closures lately. ;)

That old hat with all the stickers in my pic saved my head one afternoon. It was hotter'n Hell and we were knocking in 270' of boom on a conventional crane. Had all the boom built and were trying to mate it to butt section. Crane wasn't quite square with the boom and the operator was trying to use the swing to shift that long boom section enough to get a bull pin in it. I had that 5lb bull pin and was trying to get it far enough in the hole to hit it with my 16lb "purse". Pin in my left hand up over my head and I'm the ONLY SOB wearing a hard hat. Operator decided he wasn't going to get it and let off, it spit that pin out of the boom and my hand. That 5lb pin was was flying. Had enough time to duck my head a bit and that pin hit that hat hard enough to break the liner. I saw stars. I turned away from the thing I'll be damned if that pin, which had flown straight up after hitting my head, cam down and hit me in the back. That one put me on the ground. I shook it off and we had a good laugh. After that I noticed everybody had their hard hats on.

Had a spud wrench bounce of my hat another time. Can't count the times I've been bumped or bumped into by "head ache" balls loading and unloading crap off trucks.

You'll hate it until it saves your head sometime. ;)

Oh I'm not gonna deny it's saved me a couple scars. In fact my most recent scar (not counting my shaving) just healed up from me jumping out of my truck to check on something and walking around the truck i slipped a little from a rut/mud/scoreo and smacked my head on the truck mirror ! I'm tall and one well has pipes over most people's heads. Readily seen except at night when your light is focused on the ground so you can see where your walking. 3 times in one night I smacked my empty head on them ! But had that plastic thing sail plenty of times from the top of the tanks . Not to mention leaving it on getting into or out of my truck and having it flip off into the mud. Damned if you do and damned if you dont.
