Three years in the waiting

Finally after seeing these for three + years, the owner and I came to an agreement. :beer1::beer1:It was about half of what he wanted. Still high but....

The early Trussel from Bruxton is a new one on me, and is a nicely polished near wedge. And the Busch is..well, you know.

I guess part of the awesomeness is they both have beautiful scales. You are a patient man, I think you had an earlier post about waiting a long time for something you wanted from an old barber.

Finally you got what you have been wanting! Well executed deal made. They are a very nice pair of razors! They have very nice scales too. Looks like MOP & Ivory. I'm sure the former owner can say a lot for them but if only they could talk! They have a nice new home now.

Thank you guys! The last owner is from "Joisey" and has amassed, over the last thirty years, a collection of AWESOME Scaled razors and sets. He has the full set of celluloid nudes, about 10 7 day sets; solid blade and clip in. A few cases of all the celluloid patterns. A dozen, three and two panel perfect MOPS, A one piece MOP scaled razor, A few 1700's stubbies, etc......... Oh yes, he collects hones...for sharpening knives. He has two decent Coticules. I had bought a couple Thuringians from his showcase in the antique mall. I cell phone called him from the mall to make the razor deal and he invited me over to see his stash. So it was worth the 40 mile drive to see the Mother Lode! It shows to go ya, someone will always have more, better, nicer, and...well you know!
And...folks, he was lonesome! At my age I can understand.

To add, he does not even mention the collection to any one around his area, nor even to friends. His kids do know the value so the amassment will not go for a pittance...I guess that is all we can ask after we have our enjoyment

Sounds like you made a new friend. That would be spectacular to see a collection like that from an avid collector amassed over that many years. I envy you, both on the razors you acquired to the private viewing.

I can appreciate this Richard, I have a friend who has an awesome collection of Katana and he keeps it VERY quiet.
There's always a chance that the wrong person will find out and....

That makes this score all the more sweet. You got to pick the ultimate Honey hole before it goes to the deep pockets club. Well done. Could think of a nicer person to give these a new home.Maybe you can visit him again in the future and get more enjoyment to show and tell.
