unusual razor hone

Pike Beljen, I was hoping it was a couticle, but looks like it may be a synthetic produced to look like one. The box says "a fast cutting hone which gives an edge equal to the natural belgian". Good size hone, 8inch. Looks like it was used with oil, but hardly. In good order. I haven't tried it yet. Bad photo from my tab.

Most intriguing. I am curious what those in the know are going to say. What kind of a grit is it?

I have heard that Pike made hones here in the US and made some for Norton. Then Norton bought them out. I recall seeing a Norton/Pike labeled razor. Pikes Peak is another name that rings a bell. Wolfpack would know if I am just blowing smoke and confused about what I remember :<0)

I would be guessing, but if it is 4000/8000 I will be happy, also says to use oil, water or lather.

Yes, all the barber hones I have are 6 inch and most are single grit, but from that era when they were common place.

Have you tried it yet? If so is it a "good" barbers hone.

This may be a good one for MODINE to test in his barbers hone testing.

At any rate it is a very collectible hone.

On another forum , as I remember, it was described as a man made hone using Coticule garnet. That said, I do remember it was highly praised!
