This razor just ended up bringing everything together. Sadly the MOP is cracked at the pivot, but you can't win them all. Very happy with it overall.

Sweet looking razor!
Wow!!!!! Now that is one of the most unique looking blades I've ever seen.....
I would lot to know what that Little M'ester was smoking when he came up with that particular design. It's so bizarre.
I love it.
Is that Hindi script on the blade ?

Sort of.
It's intended to be a Devangari rendition of the word WOOTZ, which is what Europeans thought Indians called steel.
(I previously hosed down the forum with a goodly quantity of misinformation about the word and its origins, consider this a correction)
Unique to say the least.Do you think it was once equiped with a blade guard ?
Nice and unusual. And heck, as far as cracks go, that one looks like a fancy one itself :<0)
It is a unique razor, but I like it!!
I utterly dislike the look of this razor, but it's indeed a rare one. :)
I never liked those scales with two or three different parts (MOP, ivory, tortoise...)
Can be seen on old Chatellerault knives for example, but....
The actual owner of Thiers Issard have quite a lot of razors scaled like this.

I still dislike. ^^
I'm with Thaeris on this one. :)
I've gone back and forth, but appreciate the odd shapes. And it's definitely original, as the entire surface of the oddly-shaped tang is jimped ;)
I wouldn't want a whole lot of them, but I really do enjoy the combination of MOP and tortoise.
I am making a guess here!!
As the size of available bi-valves dwindled, the scales went from full MOP to 1/3-2/3, and then to three panel. Seems to be that way from some of the razors I have seen. Getting a full scale or two from a shell, now days is close to impossible.
I have checked sources around the world and "no, sorry" is the only answer I have gotten in the last few years. I have seen sources, occasionally, for the 2/3 length size slabs in 1mm thickness and sufficient width.

An old MOP razor with liners and an EXTREMELY cool blade which has had the scales busted 9 ways to Sunday. Either tortoise, or more likely, dyed horn, has been substituted. All very old. Very cool. I have one I did. Pearl and ivory. Do what you can! :rofl2: Cannot think many were made on purpose. Like Thaeris, I had rather see it done differently! It works, though.
