Adoration 292 and Over The......

Hey all:

It's been awhile since I posted (Real life and all that jazz) but I wanted to throw something out on behalf of my cousin who found a pair of razors in a relative's storage. The first is an Adoration 292 and the second is simply branded "Over the" with a symbol resembling a nail piercing a heart...or a radish. It's hard to tell.

Both are in their original scales, and he's looking for opinions on restoration as well as a little history. My amateur eye, based on the pics he sent (below) say that they are worth giving a shot. The edges are straight, no undue home wear, and the rust APPEARS (emphasis intentional) to be relatively superficial. I know that such an assumption is dangerous without the razors in hand. Anyway, I'm (we?) are looking for a second, third, fourth....nth opinion, as well as a history lesson if possible, and I know no better community!

The Adoration 292 is a wedge made by the old Giesen and Forsthoff. The other is an 'Over the Top' and the radish is actually a spinning top! I forget who made it, but it should be on the backside tang. Either or both should make good shavers!

Adoration Ax was advertised as "The Most Expensive Wedge" at one point. (not sure when they thought THAT was a good marketing strategy!)
But they were, and still are, great shavers when you find one that has not been frowned out.

A pair of good finds. I does look like with a bit O work they'll be fine shavers.
