OMG those carved ivory scales are the bomb!
It is a little hard to tell from those pictures but that is what it looks like to me. Bone has pique marks that look like little lines and dots.
Very true.
Yes it was on the bay.
I thought I saw it on there!
I think I have EVD.
eBay viewing disorder....................
Can you see any grain to the scales up close?
I know I have EVD. I checked. No grain.
Hmmmmmm, they still might be ivory. I have a razor with thin scales & they are polished smooth but I could barely see some grain in them. The pins look like they have collars & most ivory is collarless but if they aren't ivory, I don't know what they could be. I have a small straight that has carved scales like that also. The blade is 2 3/4" on it. I need to clean it up. I've had it a long time. It has a Pegasus on it. I like it because it is small!
Nice score, that's going to be a sweet shaver! whether their Ivory or bone very cool piece...
Scales look bone for sure. Fairly common to see carved, inlayed, even pique pin work on bone scales under the first tier of razors.
Agreed. I think bone as well. Very nice!
Enjoy!
I thought about going after that one. Then the dishwasher started acting up. My razor money will be going to a new kitchen appliance for a while. LMAO
It's gorgeous old razor and I'm glad it has a nice new home.
I can't tell from the pics if it is bone or ivory, I'm thinking bone. Both are usually very thin. Some good close up pictures will tell the tale. Either way, it's an awesome old survivor.
