Nice little C.W. Dahlgren came through the post this morning, my first frame back.
Rescaled and honed by the seller, still yet to take it for a test run though. It is a little thinner at the tang than my others (about half the width, third pic shows this) and that straight monkey tail might make for a bit of an interesting shave.
just need my whiskers to grow faster!

I can see it coming quite a regular in my rotation, just had a test shave, completely different to what I'm used to since there's a distinct lack of weight. But 'tis a beautiful shaver.

I have a secret little thing with framebacks.
They seem to be the best of both worlds really, singing hollow and a wedgy razor at the same time.

I had one like that I sold to a friend as he has wanted a dahlgren for awhile. The steel is GREAT on those.

I think you'd have to wrestle him for it. As cool as it was, I have hands like frying pans and the tang wasn't working for me. Seriously, the steel on those is really great stuff. You can keep pushing it and pushing it and it doesn't chip or fight back at all. Plus the bevel is crazy small and neat. Just total quality. Given what Dahlgrens generally go for, I'd consider them one of the greatest deals going if you can deal with the thinness of a lot of them.Quote:

Yeah, totally get one if you don't mind thin tangs. They are even more inexpensive than bergs.
