Nice Old Sterling Silver Shaving brush

I got this Nice Old Sterling Silver Shaving brush on the bay the other day for cheap!!! I thought it would go for a lot more but no one else bid on it! It is also a talcum powder dispenser. It has a couple dings in it from being dropped but other than that its a nice piece. I don't know who made it but the bird should be of some kind of significance. Now I need a straight with sterling scales on it to match! I knew the brush came apart because it was shown on the bay like that but I didn't know it would fit in the handle, thanks to tintin.

that is neat! looks like it might be hand engraved too. how do you keep the talc from coming out when your using it? does the brush come off for storage in the handle like a travel brush?

I've never used it & I wouldn't use it for talcum powder for the fact it would come out but yes the brush doe come off. I didn't think about whether it fits in the handle. I'll have to try that.

very nice , first thing i thought was i bet that brush fits in the handle and would make a great travel brush if it does ..lol!! then i started reading ..lol..

get that buffer going and some maas and watch it shine shine shine !! i shined a aluminum one on the buffer the other day and it came out great !!!

look at the online encyclopedia of silver marks (wouldn't let me copy the link) under st. Petersburg. the number 875 Vintage Jewelry and Hallmarks | Silver Purity Markings, 925, Sterling, 875, 835 is used for Russian silver and the double headed eagle was used for the city symbol. FYI
