W.Greaves & Sons "Cast Steel "

bet you guys thought it was a razor !! I wish , but I grabbed it anyway to go with my W & B knife/fork ...
had some surface rust in some areas , so I thought it would be a good opportunity to play with my buffer and compounds , hit it just enough to clean it up but not as to make it look new , only thing left is to see if I can get an edge on it and put it to work

ya know i watched this go through 2 times with no bids , and i couldnt pass the 3rd time and see it setting in someone's antique store or garage so i had to rescue it and bring it into my home where it will be used ...
i have a W&B set that i bought a couple years ago but i need to have the knife taken somewhere and have it sharpened as it is shot .. this knife has come to almost able to shave arm hair (it may , havnt tried) , just off of the sharpening rod , i used it to cut up some stuff for a salad and it worked great , it may have been not to long ago in use , ive wondered the age as my W&B set is stamped "Sheffield, England" where as this just cast steel !! wondering if the stamps are similar along the lines of the razors ..

I wish I could have gotten the IXL's but I missed the auction end. They were very cool.

we used to have a pig roast at my buddies every year .. we always had left overs !! on year we spent the same (or less) on a few briskets from a place up here called restaurant depo !! he cooks them in a smoker after injecting them and doing what ever else he does !! never left overs and we no sooner get them out of the trays of juice when ppl start tearing them up !! best briskets I have ever eaten in my life !!!

Best of luck with it. This big beast is SO much fun to slice with. As it comes to brisket, a drawing stroke works best.
Bigger, the better! I have a short Swaty in the wooden box to rub on them!

this is the W&B set I have .. I need to take it in , I can maintain a knife edge but once there gone I cant get them back ..lol.. ( forgive me Mr.Greaves for I have sinned !by merging these images into this thread !)

a much larger knife , but the sharpening rod that came with it for some reason really works well and is used almost daily ...

I have saw a few sets floating around , just have to wait for the right price unless you really want one of them .. I got lucky on both sets with no bidders ... anymore after missing out on a W.Greaves ACIER FONDU , and a W.Greaves & Sons butcher knife a while back I find it hard to wait anymore ..lol..

Here are a few Griffon knives and a carving set I gave away as Christmas gifts. Got them pretty cheap!
