my new lamp !! well not yet )

so I was at my daughters volleyball tournament Saturday , they had a break so I snuck out and went to a antique store ... only found 2 razors , nothing I was interested in but as I back away from the case I bumped into a little table , as I turned around there it was !! glowing like the leg lamp in the Christmas Story movie ( for those who have saw it ) but with no $cash-o-la$ on me I had to leave it behind !! but I will return to claim my prize !! ...lol

As someone who already has foregone opportunities to put the heads of kills past in my house, I will just say that this lamp should only be a chew toy for coyotes.

That said, IF you do like dead animal parts as decor, then that is just awesome!!!

ahh but it goes well with the coyote , fox , mink, and coon tanned hides , it remind me of my grandfathers house where the coat racks were deer legs , the table in the living room was glass top with a pheasant scene beneath ..

I have an interesting follow-up to this thread.

The DAY AFTER seeing this thread, my wife and I visited friends of ours. Frank is the guy who taught me the basics of deer hunting two years ago. He is originally from West Virginia and gladly would have dead animal body parts displayed around his house if not for his wife's better judgement.

Anyway, I slowly have been converting this guy over to the better methods of shaving, and he's been using a DE razor, brush, and soap for the past year. He had recently expressed an interest in getting a better brush and trying other soaps, so I brought over some stuff for him to try. Because of his hunting background, I showed him the photo of gooser's lamp.

So, it turns out that Frank's mother had a lamp belonging to her father that she had secretly transported from West Virginia to Frank's basement in Minnesota! He did not find it until after she had left. She hated the lamp, but because it belonged to her father she could not bear to throw it out. That's why it ended up in Frank's basement.

And that is why I am able to show the near mate to gooser's lamp!

Guessing that you don't mind dead animal parts for scales for straight razors?

I think the dog in the last pic agrees with the chew toy comment.

My wife would throw this out after something like 30 seconds. :D

Frank's wife also is not a fan of dead animal parts, so such items, including the lamp, are stored in the basement.

BTW, the Corgi in the photo is named Pokey.

haha , see someone has good taste ..lol..

I had deer heads (only one now) on the walls , duck mounts , and furs hanging as well as old traps through out the house , not one person would think twice bout removing some thing of the sort unless it was falling apart , but then again everyone in my family was raised (including the women) that hunting , fishing was normal like it so often was years ago and was so much enjoyed that I imagine just like a collector of anything , you like to keep it in your house ..

my buddy is 36 , his new wife is 24 , he has 30-40 deer heads , pig heads , ducks , geese , and is having a full body mount of a deer mounted at the taxidermist ...they just bought there first house and him and I finished the basement as the "MAAN CAVE" he said I don't care what she does to the rest of the house !! well she comes home with a deer antler chandelier and camouflage furniture for the upstairs ..lol..

I sent him a picture of the above lamp I posted and I think they are going to buy it this weekend !! I will snap a few shots next time I visit again ..

years ago like I was saying , my grandparents used the hoofs and mounted them to a board and made a coat/hat rack ..... I think back in the late 70's early 80's a guy decided to make something out of the left over legs and it just got passed around .. there actually is more out there then you think ..lol

it is/was but I think they will appreciate it more .. but on a side note my OP was more or less highlighted by a joking manor , although I would for sure put that lamp in my humble home im on a tight budget and a razor or 2 is a far better thing for me to have then some deer legs on the table ..:D
