Mine had a slight ding and I was surprised how little work it took to remove the ding.
I'm curious if you have an idea of what kind of steel it is?
It's nice to hone and seems to hold an edge well.

Why is it unlikely to be white paper steel?
Not sure if you are asking me, but if it is not stamped with the type of steel, how can we be sure it is what it is claimed to be?
Japanese knives made from White or Blue steel are always stamped. Kamisori are known to be made predominantly with white 2 and most are stamped.
Those particular Eiko could very well be made from white 2 steel but they are not stamped. Nothing leads to believe the steel is white 2, just a statement on ebay listing or some one's website.
