The Highly Popular KOHINOOR 15/16" Diamond Edge

I've wanted a big ol' Sheffield for several years, but cost and availability were always an issue.
My blade criteria were double stabilizers, barbers notch, as near as dammit to 1" in width,
minimal hone wear and as cheap as possible !!

Well, this has a lot of wear, the tang stamp is badly worn but all in all, not too shabby.
AUD$160.00 (USD$121.00) is the most I've paid for a razor but I knew when I found "the one",
it would not be cheap. Here are the pics and please leave comments :)

Looks like a winner! I bet it is going to shave spectacularly.

Honing it will tell you all you need to know, so get to it . ;)

It looks remarkably like a W&B. It is hard to tell from pictures sometimes if it is straight up patina or if there is black rust hiding under there. If it turns out to be straight up patina, a little oil and a very light cleaning and it should be really nice. You will know more when you have it in hand.

It will take some time to hone it ( just like most old wedges ) but it will shave just fine. :)

Very nice.:D Are you going to shine her up and give her a make over? I think she looks lovely just the way she is, maybe a little clean up on the scales and pins.

I thought it was a "Bow" razor at first glance.

For an old blade like that, it doesn't look all that bad at all.
Still a few thousand shaves in that one I reckon:)

I'm with RezDog on thinking that's a W&B made blade. I've got a King 8/8 FBU and it looks like aobut every other W&B FBU you see and remarkably like your razor.

I think that you truly found a diamond in the rough.

Yep etsy, sometimes it's nice just to have a BIN price without all the bidding and waiting, that's why I like etsy.

Hi Mark, I have been thinking about a total strip-down/un-pin and a matt polish(#400) but I'll wait 'till I see it :)

The blade etching looks in really good shape. Should not be hard to keep them.
You can try Geezer's etching restore when all is said and done.

I think it is going to look a lot better when you get it in your hand. A light clean, hone and use, I am betting.
And you couldn't have done better IMHO. What you got is unique and that has more value ,once again, IMHO :<0)
