Shumate 296
Pleased to present this freshly cleaned up and newly honed shumate 296.
Attachment 200939
Received this as one of a pair of NOS Shumates which had been forgotten and were starting to develop some few, but deep pits and scars.
Started, and stayed with nothing more than mothers and some various cloth bits and a whole lot of thumb grease to remove rust and smooth out this lovely spike point piece of American steel.
The original edge was still on it from almost 100 years ago but I added a piece of tape to the spine and took her to my coti gently. Finished on a zulu than .25 diamond, than linen strop, bridal leather, and finally kanoyama.
First shave tonight and I was super pleased. Sings through three days growth and was just easy to control for the two pass shave I had.
My first vintage score like this, and happy to share the success.
Cheers.

Thanks gents.
A rare thrill, for me, to be the first user of this blade. Only other new razor I've tried being my Willaims SRP LE. But this being new, old and yet new,,,,,,kinda cool.
I fear this virus known as RAD could morph into a more deadly strain known as,,,
NOS RAD!!!
A much more costly form of the disease no doubt, with much higher resistance to the typical cures such as ebay, kijiji, and the like.
Hehehe.
