French Razor from the 1700's?

I've been looking for a razor from the 1700's and the listing says manufacturers dates were from 1730 to 1800. I got up at 430am to make sure I got this, but two bids only and it was mine, didn't need to get up!

It will be amazing to hold in hand and shave with something from the period of the French Revolution - this is the part of this hobby that in so many ways blows my mind - saving little pieces of history and being able to not only preserve them, but once again use them.

Any more information on this razor would be much appreciated.

Nice catch. The oldest I have got my hands on is 215 years old or about 1800. Restored it and was surprised of the shave. Great.

Beautiful razor arrived today, it's going to need just a little polishing up before hitting the hones.

The scales are very thin, and they feel like ivory, doesn't feel right to be bone, but nice to finally get one of these very old blades.

Any thoughts what the scale material is?

Nope - it all goes to the Father, Pope Razorfeld and to his Church of the Open Razor and Stone...sorry.:shrug:
