World's Best Razor
Well I finally found the worlds best razor. People said it was impossible, but I have done it. How many can rightfully claim they have the worlds best razor. The manufacturer says it is the "world's best razor" so it has to be true. All joking aside I am waiting to hone this one up to see how well it lives up to its claim. It is a 11/16 Zaliel Razor Works. The tang, spine and stabilizer are blued. I had a set of scales lying around that needed a razor so I thought I would put them on this one, but the more I look at it the more they just don't seem right. I might change them yet. Other than that and a light cleaning really didn't have to do much. Not sure if it was made in Germany with Sheffield steel or just ground in Germany and then sold in the US. Here it is.

Well, It looks like a nice razor. Let us know if it really is the best.:)
-
If they stamp it on the tang then it most certainly is true.
-
I might buy the razor part but certainly not the worlds best scales.;)
-
Glad we have that finally settled.;)

But it's not written in stone.....
-
But I read it on the Internet so it has to be true.

Zaliel razors are quite good. Cannot go wrong with one, FME.
-
Very good razor. I have one.

Well I still haven't gotten around to honing this one since I wasn't sure if I wanted to keep it in the scales or not. Anyway I got bored and decided to try my hand at carving a set of scales again. I carved a set of bone scales that turned out really nice, but whenever I try wood they just don't seem to look as nice. The bone seemed to want to be carved. Bone works smoother than wood does. Guess I will have to get some more bone slabs. Figured I would see how this one looks with different scales, but I think I like the other set better. I wanted to try and get something to contrast the bluing on the razor and thought red would work. I should have kept them plain instead of carving them. Maybe I will go with a set of bone scales since if I remember correctly that is what was originally on this razor. Dying to shave with this one, but don't want to hone it up and then have to change the scales and take the chance of messing up the edges since that is probably what will happen.
