Chevhead, very nice piece. You did a fantastic job! I would definitely keep it away from the rest of the herd though. Not trying to talk bad but the blade looked like it may have started getting damage due to cell rot so please keep an eye on it for awhile............JMO.
It might be ok though, maybe it was sitting in an area that moisture in the air. One of my Otto Deutsch Hans was like that & I had an extra blade so I put the scales in a baggie with a clean junk blade for about 6-8 months & when I opened it, I didn't notice any smell & the junk blade did not appear to be showing any bad signs, so I completed the job. It is a very nice straight now.
