1936 Standardized Texbook of Barbering.

I just recently (last night) won an uncontested battle and obtained a 1936 Standardized Textbook of Barbering off the bay. I would have thought you guys on SRP would have been all over that and I would be having a bid war within the remaining seconds of the auction but no. No interest what so ever... I won it for the starting bid price. Score!

I know it's not a shiny razor or prized Jnat or Escher but I really think I got something cool and it will be a good read none the less. I am hopeful to gain lots of tips from it and become a better shaver and honer.

When it gets here from the states I will post photos as it's a neat item in great shape.

I did not see that or you would have had some competition! I find things like that fasinating, please post some pictures when you get it!

I am most curious. I have seen a few people reference it. It will be a fun thread to read. I am sure there are a few guys here with that edition.

I've got the 1964 version. Cool stuff about honing, stropping, and a little about hones. My favorite barber manual is Moler's. I think it is 1926 IIRC. Nice write up on hones ;

I will most definitely post photos when I receive it. I knew I got the girlfriend a fancy camera for a reason. The photos will be of high quality. There was a 1950's barber textbook but I opted for the 1936 as I have never seen one that old before. I couldn't resist bidding, I even bid 3 times against myself to make sure I got it haha!

Was that the one for under $20?
If so I saw it but I already have an older one , "Standardized Barbers Manual", copyrighted in 1911 but revised in 1920,1924, 1926, 1927 & 1928. A nice old hardback. I would post pics but my computer has an issue with not uploading pics right now!

I really like where the Moler says beginner honers should use the natural water hones from Germany to practice on so they don't ruin the razor. As I am starting to get into honing it sure would be nice having a Thuringian stone to practice with.

As far as shaving, stropping and honing is concerned, not much, if anything.

Well, I had to go into System utilities on my Macbook & click on repair disc. I can now upload pics again. Other than what appears to be a small paint spot on the lower cover, it is in great shape!

Seller forgot to mention the cover was not attached to the book, a little disappointing but the book and pages themselves is in phenomenal condition.

There are people who fix those sort of things if it is of great concern. It looks good. Let the posting of quotes and pictures begin!

I'd send it back unless I got it for dirt cheap. YMMV.
