1.1 Inch GB Razor with Maltese Cross & Anchor

Hello All,

I wanted to share my newest acquisition. I won this on ebay while on vacation in the Dominican Republic. Thank god for wi fi...lol. I can't seem to post the pics. The Internet in this resort is craptastic.

The sellers write up/ header was way off. Giving credit to the name on the case and not the info on the razor itself for the ebay description. So that might have kept it off thee radar for some. BUT that wasn't enough to keep it from turning into a bidding nightmare.

So besides the size and age of the razor, the thing that drew me in the most was the combination of marks. All of my GB's have the initials and the anchor. None of them have the cross as well as the other 2 marks, which made it pretty special to me. I think I've seen the combination of cross and GB or GB and anchor here on this site but not all 3 together.

GB's are a bit of an anomaly but anyone else seen one like this before. If you have any information please share. If I'm crazy and the combo of marks is not that uncommon please let me know that too.

Hey man. I'm still in DR. The razor is coming from England. I can't seem to get the other 2 images to post. I'm back on December 31st so I will have to sort it out then. The razor should be at my door sometime in the new year. What a resolution. ...lol. Don't buy everything on ebay. Find that "one piece" and do your homework I guess.

Yeah I am slowly learning that Phrank has a small arsenal. Please post the link. Internet sucks whilst on vacation. My girlfriend is very understanding at least....lol

So......I just took a look around the forum and I see that these three marks together are not so uncommon. So much so that I typed in GB straight razor on Google and I found a picture of one that I already own...lol

I Should stop collecting right now......When you start forgetting what you already own, then it's over

For some reason I couldn't upload the pics while on vacation. So here they are in full glory. I hope to have this razor in hand by Jan. 12 (the latest)

Those scales are very distinctive, they have a swoop to them, awesome, am assuming original...wow.

Might have to use your example and get a new set of horn scales done exactly in that manner....great find!

Just kidding.I can totally trace them for you when they show up. I'll take a pic of the profileof the razor, trace the scales in Adobe Illustrator and send you a pdf file with the proper proportions and measurements if you want.

Cool and thanks - are they in fact quite "swooped" (can't think of another adjective!!), never seen scales with that distinctive shape on any Sheffield blade - the GB, the Mystery deepens....:dropjaw:

I didn't even think of that. Here's a look at the shapes of the other 8/8+ GB scales that I have already. Can't wait to add it to the line up. Almost a 7 day set.

Dude I knew you had an arsenal. Here's my 7 day 8/8+ set of WB's The only one that's not a FBU is the bottom one which has masonic etching. If I included some 7/8's i'd be right up there with you....lol. But we all know nothing under an inch counts..LMAO

Here's the "little brother" GB I found a while ago....there was some discussion about the, "Acier Fondu" stamp, but the Maltese Cross and the GB stamp are there.....nice little blade at 6/8....:rofl2:
