"MY" first offering to the Greaves lovers 😌Attachment 228115
Thanks CMP. I only felt it would be for you to say, not me. I felt it was being respectful as I have learned from a couple mistakes in the past for saying something I shouldn't have. Congrats my friend! I'm so glad it was someone on here that got it.
Tom, I just knew it when you weren't showing complete pics because they do make butcher knives & such also. Steak knives, no but other types of cutting devices, Yep! Besides, You're a joker anyway..............:rofl2:
Let me rephrase that. I'm sure they made steak knives more than likely but the ones Tom showed couldn't have been steak knives.
Just a few of my favorite Greaves. The Masonic 8/8" with the honewear and the 8/8"+ with the NE Plus Ultra etching are my favorites.

Hoarding Bastiges.
Ok smarty, when you die I will own all your razors, hows that!!!:lurk:
Ya know , I am going to ride the hawwg around to every thrift store, pawnshop, antique store within 600 miles of me and meet these owners and get them to call me when they get razors or strops in, should have a good effect.
Nice full blade on this Greaves Frameback ...lets talkhttp://i1327.photobucket.com/albums/...ps2c032c7f.jpg
Is that a bear trap?
I can't believe that this thread is still alive and kickin. No one is posting the BIG BOYS anymore. I ran out of money so.......owe well...LOL
Wait, Cheetah! There's MORE! :rofl2:
Any of you guys see the Joseph Rodgers Rattler on ebay that went for close to 900$ ?? I wonder what was so special about it? 896$ 92 bids? WTF?? Idiots with too much money is the problem, Hoarding Bastiges.
Sharpton, watch out for guys trying to steal your Hoarded collection, GRRR, big bucks in them razors now.
Here's something... I spent some time cleaning the active rust out of the pivot, crud in between the scales, and some stains as well.. Some nerve-wracking time last night... Henckels is 13/16 for reference. Attachment 236704Attachment 236705Attachment 236706Attachment 236707
The rodgers was actually 10/8, not that it stings any less
I am pretty good about not fighting over Butchers. I do like a nice wostenholm though
It was meant for expositions afaik. It is a real razor. It will take an edge like any other. Not something you would want to necessarily use, it's nearly 11/8, the ivory is way too precious to risk and since it is ivory with a massive lead wedge the balance points are all different vs a normal razor... plus French steel takes vicious edges you need to be on your toes with on normal blades let alone that
Leady lead lead, lots of lead.. Attachment 236708
Other cool thing is once the inside of the channel was cleaned up, you could see the old marks from when the scales were constructed.Attachment 236709Attachment 236710
I saw that Rodgers go for that ridiculous price yesterday. I thought it was a 9/8................oh well, still pretty steep. And I just got a Wostenholm IXL 8/8 FBU a couple weeks ago for $80. It looks a little rough but I like deals like that better!

Hmm, I believe I bid on that razor till the cranky little woman discovered me bidding, then it was war for two hours, with HER. ;)
I do wish there was some way we could let others HERE know when we are bidding on an special razor. I have no wall hangers just User Blades in this house.
Great snag Steve.
In the Morning I head out to hunt my favorite Morel Mushrooms, gonna be a Ton of them up, will trade the Best Morels for a razor or two.
Yeah, I am with you on that... It's silly not to use them, that is their function
