Attachment 240660Just picked this up over the weekend, asking $32 got it for $25. No hone wear that I find and no rust. I suck with picture taking so apologies for that. Pivot pin seems a bit loose and needs a honing. I am thinking the scales are celluloid but I could be wrong I have no idea of the year of this razor. Just stoked to have saved one. There was also a Red Imp in just as good a shape but could only go with one in the end. Thanks for looking hope everyone had a great 4th of july!
Nice grab there. Looks more modern to me and can't tell squat for sure but would guess plastic from what I can see.
Never thought about it much but I have a ton of cell scales and most are clear or have some sort of depth to them. A pattern like marble you can see down in would be how I describe that or a tortoise shell look was popular. I think it was the clear characteristic that made it a popular choice. There may have been some scales that were solid in color and I just don't recall seeing them or they never suffered the usual cell rot of the clear type. I hope for your sake it's plastic :<0)
Thanks for the info 10Pups, since I blasted the pic with my flash it washed out the fact that the scales have what I would call "bamboo" look to them. Like the bamboo shoots in Chinese food like darker stripes the length of the scales. And they are more of a subdued yellow not so in you face yellow. I appreciate your looking : )

The "Special" has always been my personal Fav of the W&B line
I scored some with the improved tang which has a longer Monkey tail & they have Ivory scales also. Shortly after that, I scored a Henckels with the same type of tail. I have never seen a Henckels like that. I couldn't find my W&B Specials right now but here is the Henckels:

It has a couple chips at the heel & one near the toe so I am going to hone it the best I can, then there will still be a small bit of the toe chip left so I will round it off very little until it is gone to keep the original blade length.
That is sweet ivory scales would be awesome! We actually took a trip to Jamesport, MO and it was on the way back that I found my W&B. While in Missouri though we stopped at an antique store, there was a sweet Boker. Had etching of like a worlds fair or something on the blade in great shape. I asked to see it, the gal pulled it out along with a hand written cue card that stated this razor was from the 1832 exhibition or fair or what ever and the price was $599.95! I about fell over! I laughed said thanks and gave it back. I told her that blade will be a pile of rust before anyone pays that. She said ok. Awesome score though on your part :D
