I snagged a big, old razor a long while back, a 9/8 retailed by a long-ago Chicago retailer, Harry and Co.
I figured it to be German-made and circulated the maker's mark around. My fine friend Martin, along with a member in Belgium, even Neil Miller were all stumped.
Engine Steve has one with the same mark from an Italian retailer, even!
Someone even put it on a French forum for me (Herman, I think?), after all, I bought it out of France! ;) No dice on the mark OR anything on Harry and Co of Chicago.

Fast-forward, looking at obscure things on the Fleabay, I found what I was looking for.
A nice Solinger from S P Marx and Co.
Only info I can find is from 1887 till at least 1922.
I reckon it is one of those obscure makers wiped clean before WWII, never to return.
I was happy to find out the maker, yet figured the latest one I found looked pretty nice. 15/16 and little wear. So....I bought the thing. :roflmao

Anyhoo, it would seem by the horn scales on the obviously older one and the bakelite/hard-rubber scales on the seemingly newer one, I have an early example, and a late one.
I have been cleaning and hand-polishing on the later one and will get it into the rotation soon.
Some scale repair on the older one will be necessary. Bugs in the wedge end. I shall do little to the blade on it.
Just some light hand work. Lazy! ;)
