Lap them up and you certainly appear to have gotten your value..

Lapping a barber hone removes the original fine burnished surface and replaces it with a much more coarse surface that is the product of the coarse grit used in barber hones and the peaks and valleys left by the lapping grit.
I like the one with the end label B.T. Co.
There is a thread from 2013 about vintage logos and they are mentioned there. Very interesting.

I'm pretty sure that BT & Co is and Escher hone. Don't kill the label while you are lapping and honing. A quick cover with CA or nail polish or lacquer will usually do the trick.

I think saving labels is important, even if they are part labels. They are part of the positive identification and as far as I am concerned without a label they are all mystery hones.

Neil Miller's post. There were two BT Co red ones for sale recently. Both Eschers. One here and one on Ebay.
I have heard of this before, but I've never come across a barbers hone that was true. I've lapped all if mine with sandpaper, progressing from 220 - 1000, then bevel the edges. I've had no I'll effects from this.Quote:

That little fissure is likely nothing. The test is to pass a razor over it and see if you can feel it.
