W&B "Manufactured Expressly For H.W. Carter"
I found a nice example of a Wade & Butcher "Manufactured Expressly For H.W. Carter" this weekend at an antiques/flea market here in NH. Amazingly, this is the third one of these I have found locally over the past four or five years. It makes sense though because H.W. Carter was from New Hampshire. It's a good bet these razors have never left the state. Still, I was shocked to discover this third one. The vendor never even took it out of the box and displayed it. It was sitting next to one other busted up rusty junk razor. Maybe people assumed the junk razor went with the box and never checked to see if there was a razor hiding in there.
The following paragraph and broadside can be found here Yankee Peddler - Ephemera Society of America Ephemera Society of America Yankee Peddler - Ephemera Society of America | along with much more interesting information about H.W. Carter.
"Henry Wood Carter, born in Concord, NH set up shop out of his house and barn in Lebanon, NH. Dubbed "The Merchant Price", Carter became a wide-ranging traveling peddler, driving a series of colorful horse-drawn wagons all around the region. He sold a very long list of notions domestic and foreign, dozens and dozens . . . watches, jewelry, cutlery, combs, thread, silk, buttons, perfumes, soap, wallets, guitar strings, boxes, stationery, brushes, fans, "segars", you name it."

According to the above broadside, if this poster was hung in your town you could expect H.W. Carter's wagon to be there within 10 days. So, better get your razor money together because he's on the way!
Here's the one I found this weekend. It's in really nice shape and looks like it has never been used. There is no hone wear at all, the scales are perfect. Much better than the other two examples I have.

And here it is with the other two. Still haven't gotten any scales put on them. All three are slightly different from each other. Either a different size, spine style, or tang stamp.
