My 10 or so razors
Attachment 302600
So these are the razors that were delivered so far.
Starting with the left column:
My grandfather's Chabaz 5/8 - it was in a very poor state. I kept the etching on the blade, but it will have to go; When I decide to rescale it it will receive a proper polish.
Thiers Issard Le Dandy 6/8 - warped blade; it takes practice to hone it. It feels rough on my skin. Steel wool on order for it and I guess I will order some Mother's metal polish too.
Revisor 5/8 - I wanted a new razor too; it came "shave ready'; you could shave with it, but it wasn't the most comfortable; I touched it tonight on the 8k Fuji and 12k Nani.
Thomas Turner & Co Sheffield - it was advertised as Victorian age, but the marking says "cutler to HIS majesty", so I guess it is after 1901; it was advertised as shave ready, but I can see with my naked eye the rolled edge and the low grit stria.
Bismarck 6/8 - the blade looks brand new, but rescaled I guess. There is the tiniest chip on the toe, but I think it will be ground off during bevel setting
John Heiffor Sheffield near wedge - some polish will not hurt, but I like to have some of the patina
Eiko Glory near wedge - I probably overpaid for it, but I like the looks of it.
What do you guys think? The last four have not been delivered yet.

Good start! Looks great to me.
Let's see the collection when it hit 100 next year. :rofl2:

Nice collection!
I'm jealous of having your grandfather's blade, that's a special thing to have.
Sounds like you are not so new at this.
What's your favorite blade?

For the moment I've stopped buying razors. I will not reach 100 anytime soon. If I decide to get other razors, they need to be special: either in top condition, or shave ready from the forum.
I am new at this. I've been wetshaving for a while now, but straights are fairly new to me. I've only used the first three blades so far and my favourite out of these is the Chabaz, but it comes down to the finishing stone I think. I've just touched up the Revisor on the 12k Nani and will test it tomorrow. It might be just as good as the Chabaz.
By the way, this was the state of the Chabaz when I got it:

Me too! And that is how one develops impulse buying, in addition to RAD.

All of them have worn out toes. They came from the same seller. I didn't pay enough attention while buying. DO NOT IMPULSE BUY STUFF!
I am considering returning them. What do you think?

Have you thought about turning them into smilers? That wouldn’t require reshaping to the toes much and the two that have stabilizers seem to have enough space at the heel.
