Here's a few of my recents.
Top row: Mappin Lancet Edge and a Wosty with a similar grind
Middle row: shoulderless Wosty and a W&B Hollow Ground rattler
Last row: Turner and a big Elliot
Bottom: Hives that I got from Silverloaf.
In these last few months I've gotten some of the razors highest on my wanted list. Kinda fun!

Dang, nice scores.
A rattler, double concave, and a clean pre 1800 stubtail are high on my wishlist.
A Lewis custom is still at the top though. :)

The Lancet is in better shape and just needs to be cleaned up a bit. I'm wondering what you'll think of the scales on the Lancet when you get it- they seem to be a bit on the small side for a hefty grind like that.

Well, that 75 Cent razor might be a bit Abby-Normal, but if you bring it back I'll call it the Frankenmappin. :D

Mike, after I saw some of your razor resurrections I realized how appropriate that avatar was.
The Mel Brooks movies always provide a whack of good one liners, most of them so corny, they cause groans and laughs at the same time.
For example, when looking at the massive hardware on the castle doors, Gene WIlder says, “What a pair of knockers.” Everybody knew that was coming, but laughed anyway.

I don't know if you've followed the What Are You Working On thread, (edit- just saw from your post above that you have) but I've seen Outback make lettering on scales look like new.
I'm pretty sure the original scales on the Lancet were supposed to be similar to the 75 Cent with gold lettering. Someone has re-scaled it with a small set that has a tiny wedge. It works and centers properly at least.
I've gotten lucky on Ebay in the last month or so. I never used to see the unusual ones either, but then a few have popped up recently.Quote:

Ol' Outback brought it back from the dead.
Tomorrow: the first shave that thing has given in this century, at least. I'm not so sure it saw much action in the 1900s either. ;)
The Franken will receive much better care now, of course.
I think the 75¢ may impress you. It did me, for what it was finished on. That i will gladly reveal, once you give your honest opinion on it.

I've tried this hone on several razors, with exacting results.

Actually... I do enjoy honing, Tom. Its something I don't rush, for I'm very finicky about my edges. Maybe a bit OCD over it, should it be a knife, razor, machete, Axe, ice auger, ect. I even came up with a phrase for myself, as a kid.Quote:

In days gone by, I would line-up 8 or 10 and do a honing marathon.
Nowadays, I had rather spend time repairing, cleaning, polishing, assembling.
I used to like honing more, but lately, It seem as another mundane chore that I like to get through ASAP.
I just want to get to the shave.
I sharpened a hoe yesterday.....4 inch grinder and a sanding disc! ;)
Ok. No pulling, so it was definitely sharp enough. It wasn't overly keen, the sharpest razor I own is an Aust from Maggards. I need to be careful with that one.Quote:

As for smoothness, the Reynolds rattler that Rezdog honed for me on his Escher was the first time I remember shaving with a razor and thinking "this almost doesn't feel like shaving". I also figured out at that point I didn't need a super keen razor to knock down stubble, that one did great. Judging by my lack of razor burn, this one seems a bit more toward the smoother end as well.
Not overly keen, a good balanced shave, as all shaves should be (praise Thanos!) ;)

Well, when I unpinned it for cleaning, there was one spot on the inside of the scales, that was delaminating near the pivot. Nothing serious, but gave me a clue, that tells me they are probably the original scales.Quote:

I recently honed a couple for Gasman. One on the Swatty, the other on his "Apart," barbers hone.
The stria on that edge is better than the Swatty, looks identical to my Escher. Still need to shave with that one, yet. I left Jerry's just off the hones, no stropping, I wanted him to see the difference between, the two bricks.
Better than any Coti edge I've ever shaved with, but has the same attributes as the coti, when it comes to how my skin feels.
Well, crap. Now I need to go on the hunt for a Swaty. ;)
The more I think about it, those scales are just the right size. The big cutout down the middle of the razor rests right on top of the scales and the blade part sits neatly inside. I'm sure it was designed that way.Quote:
