Default Weber <3 18th century case

So the lady allowed me to bid on a wonderful item as a Xmas present to thank me for some extensive remodeling work I am undergoing in our house (and when the house is two centuries old and made of mud, no, not adobe, actual mud, that's a lot of effort).

I thought I would share here, because these are quite the rare sights

The maker is Weber, with a heart stamp, which might have been a surgical instruments maker from Strasbourg, which is a both more AND less French city (it's almost as German as it is French) i've been told.

It's missing one of the blades, sadly, but is in very good condition.
The box is lined with a very fine, very beautiful shagreen, and still closes thanks to the little key
Beautiful is important, but when all is said and done, you will always be faithful to a good shaver while a bad one may detter you from ever trying again. Judge with your skin, not your eyes.

That’s a great find. Congratulations and a big thank you to the lady.

Is the small instrument a knife?

What an amazing set from an era and style that is museum worthy and, in my opinion, perfect condition. Any kind of restoration would be very very light, if it were me. But it is not me and all I can say is CONGRATULATIONS!

What a curse be a dull razor; what a prideful comfort a sharp one

Well, the matter of restoration is more or less handled.

While I know how to do most of the job, I am in no way proficient enough to handle my best blades

Indeed very little will be done, and will be done by a gentleman whose skills with old razors and tortoise I trust a lot, who is none other than the above "Compulsive frankensteinisator"
