I’ve had one for over a year and use it to tidy up my neck when the straight doesn’t quite do the job or to do a complete shave when I’m in a hurry.

I find it to be a mild shaver. I use Gillette Super Blue or Wilkinson Stainless blades and use the #6 plate to get the kind of shave I like. No irritation or weepers with that plate. The lower numbered plates just weren’t doing it for me the way my Merkur slant does.

The 6S has great hand feel. It really feels like a solid steel razor, not some chromed cheap unknown alloy. It does feel good to shave with it.

I’m curious to find out how you feel about it Bob.

I have been using a 6C for a while now with the #6 base plate. Excellent razor except some of the early one had an issue with the threads in the handle giving out and not tightening any more. I use the #6 base plate for the same reason as you do. To be honest I never tried any of the other base plates. Only someone used to shaving with a straight razor would call the razor mild with a #6 base plate. I think straight razor users like a good amount of blade feel in their DEs not so much beginner DE users. With a #6 base plate I can equal a shave with a straight razor.

I will use the 6S in the morning with a Gillette Nacet blade but expect the same stellar performance as the 6C. It does feel more solid than the 6C as it is stainless steel which is a big bonus in my view. I have used about 6 different brands of blades in the 6C and all performed very well.

I haven’t found a de that’s aggressive enough, my mongoose is about perfect if not a little too aggressive with feather pro’s.

Have you tried a Fatip OC or a Gillette Fat Boy @9?

I’ve had a couple of fat boys, 9 was close. I have had a couple of slant open combs but both were pretty mild. I’ll have to try a Fatip.

Yea, give both the regular OC and the slant OC a go if you get a chance.
