This is wade & butcher 8/8 blade.it says in the blade

DO YOU THINK CAN I SAVE writhing in the blade.i did use mass a little didn't affect to the wrightings?
it doesn't have rust but do have some a little pitting.check picture and let me know what you think

Agreed. I'd rather keep the pitting than lose the etching.
My prognosis: probably. Maas doesn't take off too much if you hand polish. Just do it once or twice and it'll leave most of the etching.
Very nice razor! From the shadows of the artwork on the blade it looks as if the art work is raised above the rest of the blade. If that is true Mass will not harm that and you can have at it.
Enjoy this fine razor.
When I polish these sort of razors with this sortbof etching,I use my bare finger tip very lightly for less abrasion.If it starts to show any sign of the etching being removed I stop and call it good.Do not try this on gold areas.
Lately I've been leaving a bit of "patina". I gave up on the mirror finish-look like brand new look. That is a REALLY nice hunk of Sheffield steel.:tu

I haven't seen Maas harm any etching. I believe those of us in favor of saving the etching were referring to the removal of the pitting, which would not be done with Maas but rather with sanding.
Another vote for minimal polish. What a great looking razor. Congrats !!!
That is one beautiful razor. I love the lines and heft of the tang. +1 for a light polish, it'd be a shame to damage the etching.

One lucky guy to have that razor. I've been wanting an 8/8 W&B for a while.
You can polish it but please be careful that etching is too good to lose.

What is MAAS and is it used for removing pits or polishing the blade?
If you have an old blade like with etching in it or gold on it will polishing the blade remove the etching or gold plating?
