Haha, that's a cute cat. :) What a beautiful stone too I might add. I've always found Karasu pleasing to look at (from the pictures I've seen, never actually seen one in person!). Have you tested it out yet? I know Karasu stones are supposed to put the finest edge on a razor, but how is the cutting speed of your's? Just curious.....:D

Nice! Do they share more than common looks? (like being scratchy, requiring your frequent attention, hard to tame and control, source of jealousy for other members of your household, etc.)
The cat is a favorite of my wife who seems to harbor no similar feelings for the hone. She seems to regard the hone with a certain amount of "oh, another one?!?"
I decided to give the new hone a go without lapping it. It had nice smooth feel, but you could tell it was cutting. I took a razor that was shave ready but shaved a little harsh. 20 laps on the new hone, then 20 laps on leather, then shave. It was a smoother shave than I had been getting from this razor, but it needed more strokes on leather. I didn't have time to pay real attention to the shave as I should have. I will have to really do that at a later date. I am coming to the end of my stint of long shifts.

I decided to throw a couple of micropix up here. The first is the blade I shaved with this AM. The second is the blade after 20 more strokes. Approximately the same place. The same magnification around 200X.
